Subject: SQL Notes odbc drivers with link server
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Other
Technical Area: Application Development
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5
Reproducible: Always

Hello,

I'm using SQLNotes to connect to a Notes database from SQL server 2008 R2 with a link server.

I have configured the system DSN and added to the global variables the following path:

C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes\;
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Lotus\Notes\Data\;
C:\NotesSQL\;

When I try to connect the link server I get the following error:

Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYNOTES".
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYNOTES" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_DBC failed". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7303)

In the Event viewer I get the detailed error:

Cannot locate the ID file Nothing listed in the KeyFilename entry in the NOTES.INI (located at C:\Users\SQLAccount\AppData\Local\Lotus\Notes\Data\notes.ini).

The driver is trying to get the id file under SQLAccount instead of UserName, so I copied the notes.ini and UserName.id files under C:\Users\SQLAccount\AppData\Local\Lotus\Notes\Data\

and added the path

C:\Users\SQLAccount\AppData\Local\Lotus\Notes\Data\

to the global variables and I'm now getting the following error:

The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYNOTES" reported an error. Authentication failed.
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYNOTES".
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYNOTES" returned message "[Lotus][ODBC Lotus Notes]Invalid authorization specification".
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYNOTES" returned message "[Lotus][ODBC Lotus Notes]Unable to validate userid UserName".
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYNOTES" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed".
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYNOTES" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed".
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYNOTES" returned message "[Lotus][ODBC Lotus Notes]Driver not capable". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7399)

The userName and password are correct, but I have many notes.ini files so I'm a bit confuse. I have configured to use everything under the SQLaccount, but I still can't connect.

Any Idea ? I also tryied to ping the notes server and it failed, could it be the reason of it ?

thank you for your answer
